Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution - Bill of Rights

"A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed."

Preservation and Proposition

Our mission is to document the pivotal Second Amendment events that occurred in Frontier Mercersburg, and its environs, and to heighten awareness of the importance of these events in the founding of our Nation.

We are dedicated to the preservation of the place where the Second Amendment was "born" and to the proposition that the Second Amendment (the "right to bear arms") is the keystone of our Liberty and the Republic.

No Bullets. . .No Guns

By JW Ross

The purpose of 2nd AmendmentPA.com is to promote the birthplace of the 2nd amendment. However, when the very existence of the 2nd amendment in the Bill of Rights is in jeopardy, I feel that I owe my readers a truthful discussion of this reality.

The reality, in a new Obama term, of the appointment of one or two progressive judges to the Supreme Court is certain - as one or more Justices are reaching retirement by choice or for health reasons. President Obama has clearly indicated by his most recent appointment to the Court that he seeks out very progressive appointees who have made it clear that they do not support the 2nd amendment.

He has also made it clear, in numerous statements, that the 2nd amendment should be "revisited", what many say is code language for, "abolished". The appointment of one new Justice by Obama would move the court from approval to the disapproval of the tenets of the 2nd amendment.

There is a long history of progressives banning weapons in the hands of the citizenry - including Hitler, Mao, and Stalin - in order to secure their control over the populace. But the voiding of the 2nd Amendment is only part of the problem for its supporters. When President Obama in his first term has been frustrated by the lack of legislative or judicial support for his policies from the Congress or Judiciary he has ruled by Executive mandate or fiat. Whereby he simply "ignores" laws or finds loopholes in the laws to justify his actions. This "end run" on the Constitution and Rule of Law can effectively minimize or nullify the intent and purpose of the 2nd Amendment.

Executive mandates usually take the form of regulations. Lead bullets, for example, can lead to environmental examination by the (EPA) Environmental Protection Agency because lead in the environment is monitored and controlled. Of course without bullets the issue of "right to bear arms" is mute. The rules are endless and the obstacles many.

Simple to say. . .there are only a few things that are sure in a second term for President Barack Obama. More taxes and more gun control.
